Nearly 7,200 Candidates Lost Deposits ₹16.4 Cr In LS Polls

Data from the Election Commission (EC) showed that out of the 8,360 candidates in the fray from 543 seats for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, 7,194, or 86.1% of all candidates, lost their security deposits worth Rs 16.36 crore in total. These candidates failed to secure one-sixth of the total valid votes cast in their respective constituencies.
