The Commission seeks a detailed report within a week and plans an on-site investigation. The perpetrator, reportedly linked to the ruling Trinamool Congress, was filmed beating them in a viral video.

The Delhi High Court instructed Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale to pay ₹50 lakh in damages for a 2021 defamation case brought by former diplomat Lakshmi Puri over allegedly defamatory tweets. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani ordered Gokhale to issue an apology in The Times of India within a month and on the social media platform from which the tweets were posted, to remain visible for six months.
