New Delhi: Ahead of Gujarat Polls, Congress has made a promise to provide the same benefits to all as they did in Rajasthan. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted that if Congress comes to power it will provide fixed jobs for contract workers, the pension system will be restored, and promotions will be given on time.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and wrote:

Congress’s firm promise:
1)
Fixed jobs for contract workers

2) Old Pension System (OPS) restored

3) Promotion on time

Implemented in Rajasthan, now employees will get their due as soon as Congress government is formed in Gujarat.”

On October 23, Congress announced that regular government jobs will be provided to nearly 15 lakh youths working on contract or as outsourced staff in different state-run entities and departments if it will come in power in Gujarat. The announcement was made by the state unit working president and MLA Himmatsinh Patel.

On October 22, the Congress government in Rajasthan approved rules aimed at regularising contractual staff.

Congress had also stated that they will give permits to those people who want to regularise illegal constructions.

“This pro-people decision by the Rajasthan government will benefit nearly 1.10 lakh youths. On the same lines, our party, if voted to power in Gujarat, will regularise nearly 5 lakh contractual and 10 lakh outsourced staff. These youths are being exploited at present under the ruling BJP,” Patel had said to reporters.

On Being questioned if is Congress trying to counter AAP by making these pre-poll promises, he said, “Other parties are making promises for the sake of it. Congress has a long history of fulfilling promises and introducing pro-people schemes and laws, be it MNREGA, mid-day meal, free education, and right to food.”

Earlier in September Rahul Gandhi had made a list of promises if it is voted to power in the state. The list included free electricity, farm loan waiver, compensation to Covid-hit families, 10 lakh new jobs, and 3,000 new English medium schools for the people of Gujarat.
