The rebel Shiv Sena MLAs are currently operating from a five-star hotel in Guwahati in BJP-ruled Assam.

Mumbai: Sources claim that the dissident MLAs are already engaging attorneys to examine the Constitutional requirements for holding a floor test after the Supreme Court granted them till July 12 to file their responses to the disqualification notifications.

Eknath Shinde and 15 other dissident MLAs received the disqualification notices last week from Deputy Speaker Narahari Zirwal, who is a member of the coalition party of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerayโ€™s ally Sharad Pawar.

Currently, the rebels are operating out of a five-star hotel in Guwahati, Assam, which is under BJP administration. In spite of extensive security measures put in place by the Assam government, Eknath Shindeโ€™s followers have placed billboards with encouraging messages all around the hotel.
According to sources, the dissident MLAs are staying in Guwahati until July 5.

A startling coup against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is being led by Mr. Shinde, who claims to have the support of almost 50 MLAs, including about 40 members of the Shiv Sena.

Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray, a minister in Maharashtra, asserted that roughly 15 to 20 dissident MLAs are in contact with him and have urged the party to bring them back to Mumbai.

Senior members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress met with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray soon after the Supreme Courtโ€™s ruling and reaffirmed their support for him. Eknath Shinde, on the other hand, referred to the decision as Balasaheb Thackerayโ€™s Hindutva winning.
