PM inaugurates 3rd Global Maritime Summit, virtually launches projects worth Rs 23,000 cr 

PM, who virtually inaugurated the 3rd Global Maritime Summit here in Mumbai, said a global consensus was reached on the G20 Summit on Economic Corridor which will increase logistics, and create jobs. India is striving to achieve great growth in the next 25 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said in the post-Covid era, the whole world is looking towards India with hope. The day is not far when India will rank among the top three economies in the world. The maritime sector of the country is going to play a major role in this.
PM, who virtually inaugurated the 3rd Global Maritime Summit here in Mumbai, said a global consensus was reached on the G20 Summit on Economic Corridor which will increase logistics, and create jobs. India is striving to achieve great growth in the next 25 years.
“Over the past decade, port connectivity has been enhanced, infrastructure has been improved by removing sea freight, and there has been a significant increase in cargo handling through containers,” said PM.
“The Logistics Performance Index has improved a lot in the last 9 years. INS Vikrant is a symbol of our strength. Soon we will lead the country in shipbuilding. In this, we have emphasized Make in India. In the coming time we are starting shipbuilding and repair in many places in the country,” he said.
According to PM, India has a vast coastline, strong ecosystem, and cultural heritage. The government has launched the world’s largest river cruise service and will also start a modern cruise terminal in Mumbai, he added.

PM virtually inaugurated  21 port projects worth Rs 18000 crore and also unveiled the foundation stone of the over Rs 4,500 crore Tuna Tekra All-Weather Deep Draft Terminal at Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat. He also released the long-term blueprint for the Indian Ocean Blue Economy i.e. ‘Amrit Kal Vision 2047’. The blueprint includes a number of strategic measures to promote sustainable practices and enhance international cooperation, including enhancing services at ports.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in his speech said the government in the near future, we will create facilities like hydrogen hubs, and LNG bunkering at the ports in the state, so the development of ports in the state will reach a higher level.
“Our focus is on developing multimodal connectivity that integrates rail, sea and waterways. We are trying to enhance logistics efficiency and connectivity under PM Gati Shakti Yojana,” said Shinde.
“Maharashtra has always been a leader in development. Apart from developing road and rail infrastructure for private ports, our maritime policy will give a significant boost to maritime tourism, shipbuilding, repair and recycling industries, the Chief Minister said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts have elevated India’s position in the global maritime arena.
