Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav today distanced himself from Rahul Gandhi-led 3,550 Km โBharat Jodo Yatraโ, diminishing the Congress marchโs chances of acting as a possible catalyst for Opposition unity.
โOur party has a different ideology. The BJP and Congress are the same,โ the Samajwadi Party(SP) chief said while responding to reportersโ questions.
Akhilesh Yadav was asked if heโs been invited for the Yatra, which is currently on a break and resumes with entering Uttar Pradesh from Delhi on January 3.
โIf you have an invitation on your phone, please, send it to me,โ he told reporters. โOur sentiments are with their yatra,โ he added, โI have received no invitation.โ
However, SP MLA from Maharashtra Abu Azmi had joined the Mumbai extension of the Yatra led by Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtab and senior leader Digvijaya Singh earlier on Gandhi Jayanti.
