โ€œSatyendar Jain Getting Massage In Jailโ€: ED

ED

ED further alleged that the AAP leaderโ€™s wife Poonam Jain comes to meet him often in the cell, which is against the jail manual.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday submitted CCTV footage in a Delhi court alleging that Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, who was arrested in May this year in an alleged money laundering case, is living a luxurious lifestyle in jail and influencing the probe by regularly meeting the co-accused in the case.

In an affidavit submitted to the court, the central probe agency said that Mr. Jain is getting all facilities โ€” including head, foot, and back massage โ€” in Tihar jail. It accused Mr. Jain, who is also the prisons minister, is taking unfair advantage of his position.

According to the footage, the jail superintendent meets Satyendar Jain every day, which is against the rules, the ED said, adding that homemade food is provided to him in jail, defying the court order.

ED further alleged that the AAP leaderโ€™s wife Poonam Jain comes to meet him often in the cell, which is against the jail manual.

Mr. Jain often meets with other accused, Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain, who are also locked up in Tihar, it added.

According to the Tihar jail administration, the central agency had demanded footage of Satyendar Jainโ€™s cell and the ward in which he has been placed.

The prison administration claims that no one from outside visited Mr. Jainโ€™s cell. However, during the headcount in the morning, all the prisoners present in the ward can talk to each other.

The co-accused that is being talked about is also in the same ward in which Mr. Jain is, so they can talk among themselves, it said, stressing that after counting when everyone goes to their own cell, they cannot go to each otherโ€™s cell.

Tihar administration has also denied that Mr. Jain has access to any kind of electronic gadget. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court at Rouse Avenue Court complex had on Thursday allowed the plea for an early hearing on Satyendar Jainโ€™s bail application.

Pakistan Denies Indian Allegations Of Seized Ship Carrying Nuclear Machinery

Pakistan has refuted Indian claims that a Karachi-bound ship, the CMA CGM Attila, seized in Mumbai, was carrying machinery for its nuclear program. The Pakistan Foreign Office accused India of โ€œmisrepresentation of factsโ€ and clarified that the ship transported a commercial lathe machine for a Karachi-based company supplying the automobile industry. Rejecting the seizure as โ€œunjustified,โ€ Pakistan called it a violation of international norms and emphasized that the transaction was conducted transparently through proper banking channels.

Indian officials had revealed that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) examined the consignment, including a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine, confirming its potential use in Pakistanโ€™s nuclear program. However, Pakistanโ€™s statement argued that the equipment specifications indicated its purely commercial purpose.

The seized CNC machines fall under the Wassenaar Arrangement, an international agreement controlling the spread of items for civilian and military use, with India as an active participant. Investigations by Indian authorities reportedly revealed discrepancies in shipping details, suggesting attempts to conceal the true recipients. Further investigations are ongoing.

In response, Pakistan condemned Indiaโ€™s actions as โ€œhigh-handednessโ€ and highlighted the dangers of arbitrary assumption of policing roles by states. The statement accused certain states of violating international norms and acting arbitrarily against international law.
