Akanksha Yadav

The Mahayuti coalition comprising the BJP, Eknath Shindeโ€™s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawarโ€™s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra is in the final stages of negotiating seat-sharing arrangements for 43 Lok Sabha seats, with five constituencies remaining undecided, according to sources familiar with the matter. Under the proposed agreement, the BJP is poised to contest the majority of seats, likely securing 26-28 constituencies, while Shiv Sena may receive 12-14 seats, and the NCP could be allocated five seats. Maharashtra currently sends 48 MPs to the Lok Sabha.
Shiv Senaโ€™s possible seats include Ramtek, Yavatmal-Washim, Maval, Hingoli, Kalyan, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai North West, Palghar, Shirdi, Kolhapur, and Hatkangale. The party is expected to retain most of its current seats. However, thereโ€™s a pending decision regarding Nasik and Buldhana, currently held by Shiv Sena, which the NCP has claimed. Negotiations are ongoing to resolve this issue.

Discussions with Shiv Sena regarding the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg and Thane constituencies, as well as with the NCP over Satara, are ongoing.
Ajit Pawarโ€™s NCP is likely to contest Baramati, Shirur, Osmanabad, and Parbhani, with negotiations ongoing for Nasik or Buldhana and the contested Satara seat, which both the BJP and NCP have claimed.
Furthermore, the Maha Vikas Aghadi has reportedly finalized its seat-sharing arrangements for 44 constituencies, with Shiv Senaโ€™s faction led by Uddhav Thackeray expected to contest 19 seats, Congress 16, and Sharad Pawarโ€™s NCP 9 seats. These developments reflect the intricate negotiations and alliances shaping up ahead of the elections in Maharashtra.
