Shiv Sena MPs who are in contact with Shinde are likely to form a separate group in the Lok Sabha.
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena crisis hasn’t ended yet it seems as many party MPs are in contact with the rebel leader Eknath Shinde and are likely to switch to form a separate group in the Lok Sabha, as per a source. This comes up during the CM’s Delhi visit for discussion on the Maharashtra cabinet with the BJP.
Dozens of MPs informed the Lok Sabha speaker last night, about forming a separate Sena group under the party’s Mumbai South Central MP Rahul Shewale. Yavatmal MP Bhavana Gawli who was recently replaced by Thackeray’s Sena is likely to be appointed as the Chief whip, yet the decision of the speaker is awaited.
According to Shinde Sena sources in a virtual meeting with Eknath Shinde on Monday, 12 of these 19 MPs showed their support and confidence in the rebel leader, whose group now controls the party that Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray’s father, established. 12 MPs were given special Y-category security.
As per sources, the MPs will also claim for Shiv Sena’s official symbol after Om Birla allows their separate group.
Most Shiv Sena MPs joined Eknath Shinde last month making the Thackeray’s allied regime fall in Maharashtra with Shinde emerging as the Maharashtra CM. Uddhav Thackeray broke with his alliance and supported NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu as the next president of India.
Uddhav Thackeray is waiting for Supreme Court’s decision on its various cases against Eknath Shinde which may settle the Sena crisis.
