“Stop Playing With Future Of The Country”: Rahul Gandhi Hits Out At PM Modi Over Unemployment

Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over record unemployment saying the government should focus on eradicating unemployment, and not on ‘jumlas’.

“The wrong policies of the Modi government and neglect towards the youth have brought a tsunami of unemployment in the country. Educated youth, with degree in hand, is forced to wander from door to door. Today the country has the highest unemployment in 45 years,” the former Congress President wrote on his Facebook.

“The number of registrations of unemployed people has already doubled. With the dream of serving the country for years, and joining the army, the youth are now being forced to become ‘Agniveer’ on a 4-year contract. Vacant posts in the central government are not being filled, employment is not getting in the private sector also,” Rahul Gandhi said,  accusing the Prime Minister of drowning “the youth in the pit of despair”.

“It is the duty of the BJP government to provide employment to the youth. The government should focus on eradicating unemployment, not on ‘jumlas’,” the Gandhi scion said.

“Stop playing with the future of the country, Prime Minister,” Mr Gandhi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, while hitting out at the opposition for obstructing development works, said they keep their political interests above that of society and the country. The Prime Minister made the comments while virtually addressing a programme on the 10th death anniversary of former Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member Harmohan Singh Yadav, NDTV reported.

“Many times, the opposition parties put some obstacles in the government’s work as they could not implement the decisions taken by them when they were in power,” PM Modi said.

“Now, if they (decisions) are implemented, they oppose it. People of the country don’t like it,” PM Modi said, while stressing that in recent times a trend of keeping “ideology or political interests above the interests of society and the country” is being witnessed.

Referring to the swearing-in of Droupadi Murmu as President of the country, the Prime Minister said: “For the first time after the Independence, a woman from tribal society is going to lead the country.”
