Supreme Court To Review Chandigarh Ballot Papers Today

Today, the Supreme Court will scrutinize Chandigarh mayoral poll ballot papers and counting process videos amid concerns of “horse-trading.” BJP’s Manoj Sonkar won with 16 votes, defeating AAP-Congress alliance’s Kuldeep Kumar, who got 12 votes. Controversy arose as eight votes were declared invalid, leading to accusations of ballot tampering. The court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, expressed concern and suggested considering results based on existing votes rather than immediate fresh polls.

Vinesh Phogat On WFI Row: Our Fight Will Continue, Truth Will Prevail

News Desk

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat said her fight against the Wrestling Federation of India will continue and hoped “truth will prevail”. Phogat returned to a rousing reception in India on Saturday following her disqualification from the 2024 Paris Olympics as she was found overweight by a few grams. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) subsequently rejected Phogat’s plea for a shared silver. In 2023, Phogat along with Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik had protested on the streets of Delhi, accusing then WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment of women wrestlers.
