The case came up for hearing on October 31 in the presence of Judge Ilangovan. The judge on Monday granted conditional bail to Maheswaran and dismissed an appeal to grant bail to K Ramachandran and his mother Sudha on the ground that this was not the first such allegation against the duo and they already have a similar case pending against them.

According to the prosecutor, a video went on social media in which a shopkeeper was seen refusing to give snacks to some school students by citing a resolution passed in the village not to sell any product to SC community members.

Based on this video, Karivalamvanthanallur police registered a case on September 16 and arrested Maheswaran, Ramachandran, and Sudha.

Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar Claims He Paid Rs 10 Crore To AAP’s Satyendar Jain As “Protection Money”

Tejas Joshi

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the conman in jail for running an extortion racket, has written an explosive letter to Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V K Saxena. In his letter to the LG, Chandrashekhar has claimed that he paid Rs 10 crore to jailed Aam Aadmi Party minister Satyendar Jain as “protection money”. The conman claimed that he had known Jain since 2015 and a total amount of Rs 50 crore was paid to the AAP as he was promised an important party position in south India, the New Indian Express reported.

In a handwritten letter sent through his lawyer, Chandrashekhar claimed: “After my arrest in 2017, I was lodged in Tihar Jail and was visited multiple times by Mr Satyendar Jain, who held the portfolio of jail minister… In 2019 again, I was visited by Jain, whose secretary asked me to pay Rs 2 crore every month as protection money and to get basic facilities inside the jail.”

Chandrshekhar is accused in a case of extorting money from high-profile people, including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi, and is currently lodged in Delhi’s Mandoli jail. After he made repeated requests for a transfer to another jail, the conman was shifted from Tihar jail to Mandoli jail in Delhi in August this year.

However, he has again knocked the door of the Supreme Court requesting transfer from Mandoli jail. But the apex court eclined to entertain his plea. After his letter, in span of few days, the LG granted approval to the economic offences wing of Delhi Police to investigate 82 officials of the prisons department for their alleged involvement in the organised crime syndicate run by Chandrashekhar from inside jail premises.

Chandrashekhar, who’s been in news for his connection with top Bollywood actress, claimed in his letter that he had disclosed the payments made to Jain, the AAP and also D-G Prisons, to a CBI probe team last month.
