Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje Faces Charges Over ‘Tamilians’ Comment

On Thursday, Karnataka authorities registered a case against Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje as per the Election Commission’s instructions. She faces charges under Sections 123 (3A), 125, and 123 (3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Karandlaje drew criticism from the Opposition for her remarks linking “Tamilians” to the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru.
