“We have given good governance and brought so many schemes in the state, which has never happened before,” Ashok Gehlot said

Udaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot hits back at Congress leader Sachin Pilot after he publicly red-flagged the “climate of indecision” in the Congress’s state unit. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise for his arch-nemesis. Gehlot said that we too want all leaders to “maintain discipline” and refrain from making political statements.

“AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal has asked not to give statements. We, too, want all leaders to maintain discipline,” Gehlot told reporters during a visit to Alwar.

He said that party is focusing on retaining the government in the state. “It is our objective to repeat the government. We have given good governance and brought so many schemes in the state, which has never happened before. We have started working towards retaining the state on good governance,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Sachin Pilot speaking with media persons took a potshot over Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. He said that Congress MLAs in Rajasthan who revolted against the party must be punished. In a bid for his taking over as CM he said, “It’s time now to end the climate of indecision in Rajasthan.”

Rajasthan is due to vote in 13 months. Sachin Pilot said observer KC Venugopal had said a decision on “the Rajasthan situation” will be taken soon.

He further added, “Congress is an old party with the same rules for everyone, no matter how senior. I’m sure the new president, Mallikarjun Kharge, will decide soon.”

Speaking with reporters he said observers took it seriously. He said, “The party has said it was indiscipline. Three MLAs got notices. There should now be action.”

Speaking with reporters he said, “As far as Raj is concerned, a CLP meet called on 25 Sept couldn’t be held. AICC considered it a matter of indiscipline… Rules same for all. So, if indiscipline occurred & replies were given, action should be taken. I believe party chief Kharge will take a decision soon.”

Taking a dig at Ashok Gehlot he said, “I find the heaps of praises by PM Modi (on CM Gehlot y’day) very interesting. PM had similarly praised GN Azad in Parliament. We saw what happened after that. It was an interesting development y’day. Shouldn’t be taken lightly…”
