Watch: At Sri Nagar Airport, Kashmiri Pandits Welcome Muslims Returning From Hajj Pilgrimage

As first batch of 145 Hajis returned on Saturday from the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj, Kashmiri Pandits reached Srinagar’s Sheikh ul Alam International Airport to welcome them.

In a heartwarming gesture of communal harmony in the region, large number of Kashmiri Pandits gathered to recite Kashmiri Naats and welcome the Hajis at the international Airport.

The Pandits congratulated the Hajis and sought the blessing of Hajis, news website Kashmiriyat reported.

Mohit Bhan, a Kashmiri Pandit activist, took to Twitter to share the the video from the event.

Mr Bhan wrote: “Our Kashmiri Pandits welcoming Hajis at Srinagar airport today by singing traditional Naat seeking the blessings of Prophet. This is our syncretic culture believers of Islam are enablers of Amarnath Yatra & the followers of Shaivism are messengers for unity.”

After the annual Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, the first batch of over 145 pilgrims from Jammu Kashmir returned on Saturday.

The first batch, which landed at 7.50 am, was received by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole, DIG Central Kashmir Range Sujit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Budgam and JK Executive Officer Haj Committee Abdul Salaam Mir.

This year, 80,000 pilgrims from India performed Hajj 2022. Among these, 7,000 pilgrims are from Jammu And Kashmir.
