Congress Communications head Jairam Ramesh, on Saturday, which also marked the 78th birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi, shared a video on Twitter.

In the video, former PM and BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee is seen narrating an incident in which Rajiv Gandhi helped him when he was suffering kidney ailment.

โ€œI developed kidney ailment, doctors advised me to go to the united states for further investigation and treatment,  difficult for me to make financial arrangements. Somehow Rajiv Ji came to know about that, he called me, he decided to include me in the delegation to the united nations, I became a full-fledged member, all medical expenses were paid by the goverment,โ€ the former PM said.

โ€œI came back fully recoveredโ€, Atal Bihari Vajpayee added.

The video belongs to senior journalist Karan Thapar, the interview was recorded in the last week of May 1991.
