Rahul Gandhi said, “I do not want to politicize the Morbi incident. To do so would be wrong for the people who died in this accident”

New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with other party workers observed a two-minute silence in memory of those killed in Gujarat’s Morbi Bridge accident during ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. He paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister of the country Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.

On being questioned about the Morbi bridge collapse tragedy Rahul Gandhi said, “I do not want to politicize the Morbi incident. To do so would be wrong for the people who died in this accident.”

Speaking with the media, Rahul Gandhi said, “We were having a general discussion, I myself wanted to travel but then Covid came and the journey was postponed. Bharat Jodo Yatra is also a way for me to fight against BJP and I am getting to learn a lot about India from this journey. Fighting against the Institutional capturing of the BJP is not a two-minute job, but Bharat Jodo Yatra is a good step against it.”

Rahul Gandhi said, “Bharat Jodo Yatra is an ideology, a symbol, and a way to clearly articulate another ideology against the ideology of BJP. All our leaders will fight unitedly, fight together and the Congress party will win the elections.”

He said that Congress believes in democracy and does not run a dictatorship. He said, “You saw that just a few days ago there was an election in the Congress party, we democratically elected our new president. It is our DNA that we do not run a Dictatorship. If you haven’t seen then many Congress people are coming, many non-Congress people are coming and even workers of other parties are also coming to join this yatra.”

Rahul Gandhi said, “It was the Congress party that came up with the socio-economic caste census. The census should be in the public domain. People need to understand the makeup of the Indian population.”

Rahul Gandhi said, “The Congress party has demonstrated that it is a democratic party by electing the party’s president. I wonder when will the election of RSS/BJP or TRS take place? Because the press always asks about democracy in our party but they never dare to ask BJP.”
