Will carry probe and bring all those guiltily involved in Mumbai road scam, warns Aaditya

Aaditya said that some guidelines have been issued to the builders and contractors in Mumbai. However, the same guidelines were issued in March and earlier too. Why haven’t the guidelines been followed? Who has flouted them? Has anyone been penalised for flouting the air pollution control guidelines issued by the BMC?’’he asked.

Shiv Sena leader and former minister Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday targeted the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led government and the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation currently ruled by the administrator over the delays and alleged corruption in Mumbai’s road development.

‘’Almost Rs 6000 crores of road works were launched in January this year, but not a single road or kilometer of work has been completed. Fair season of road works in Mumbai starts on October 1, and ends on May 31. It’s October 28 and not a single road work that was issued in 2021-22 and 2022-23 has begun in Mumbai! Almost Rs 8500 crores of work on paper, but nothing on ground. Why is Mumbai made to suffer under an anti Maharashtra regime?’’asked Aaditya.

‘’Our government, that will be formed soon, will carry out proper investigation and bring all those guilty, to justice,’’he said, adding that ‘’while the administrator of the BMCmay tell us how the delayed road works from the road scam began, he also must address the issue of pollution that he has been silent on,’’ said Aaditya.

‘’After being able to expose the BMC, ‘road mega scam’ of the Mindhe-BJP regime that is looting Mumbai since last year, we have been successful in saving almost Rs 1000 crore of the BMC that would have been gifted to the contractors by this khoke sarkar. This was only because we exposed their ploy of advance mobilisation and revised estimated costs. I have always said that this is a scam! The scam exposé is at a crucial point,’’ he announced.

Aaditya said one contractor from their favourite 5, has been served a termination notice period, which ended on October 26. The reply given, the BMC is due to hear the termination notice issue this week. The question is, will the BMC be forced to accept a khoke settlement? Or will the BMC blacklist the contractor?he asked.

The contractor who has the works of Eastern Suburbs, of almost Rs 1000 crores, is the same contractor who is working on a bridge that recently collapsed in Chiplun. ‘’Is there any investigation? Will there be action? Will the contractor be blacklisted? Who is the contractor close to? Will the contractor’s Mumbai contract be scrapped?’’he asked.

On Mumbai’s deteriorating air quality due to pollution and dust, Aaditya asked why the BMC administrator was silent on this issue.  ‘’And while the administrator of the BMCmay tell us how the delayed road works from the road scam began, he also must address the issue of pollution that he has been silent on,’’he said.

‘’Will the BMC issue a stop work notice to all the errant builders and contractors who are polluting our city?  The BMC must answer these pertinent questions. The pollution today is primarily that from the construction sites, largely of infrastructure and buildings. What is the action taken on them?’’he asked.
