“Will there be a new dawn?”: Kapil Sibal On DY Chandrachud

Former Congress leader Kapil Sibal, on Tuesday, took on Twitter to express curiosity over Justice DY Chandrachud, the next in line to be India’s Chief Justice Of India.

The senior lawyer said that he ain’t surprised over the government granting remission to rapists-murderers and the court Staying acquittal in a special hearing on a Saturday.

“D Y Chandrachud Next CJI. Not surprised anymore at what this government does: Granting remission to rapists-murderers”, the Rajya Sabha MP wrote.

Kapil Sibal further said, “Not surprised anymore by what the court does: Stays acquittal in a special hearing on a Saturday.”

Ending his tweet with a question Kapil Sibal said, “Will there be a new dawn when Chandrachud J takes over?”

Netizens replied with mixed reactions. One of the user wrote: “Yes and no. There’ll be flashes of brilliance like in the case of rape, then there will be some revadi like writing part of the temple judgement”.

Another user said: “Supreme court always hear sibal cases on priority its because of sibal many corrupt in india are roaming free what more he want from CHANDRACHUD?”

Without naming former CJI Ranjan Gogoi one of the users said: “Please protect him from any pegasus and fake honey trapping and blackmailing like that other fellow who ended up in Rajyasabha.”
