Siddaramaiah made this address at the Congress 84th Plenary Session being held in New Delhi ahead of the Karnataka elections

Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka Chief Minister on Saturday said that the upcoming assembly elections in the year 2019 will witness a “secularism vs. communalism” contest and it is the Congress that will surface as the winner.

He further added that the results of the polls will act in the form of a “stepping stone” for the general elections of the year 2019. Siddaramaiah made this address at the Congress 84th Plenary Session being held in New Delhi ahead of the Karnataka elections, the dates for which are yet to be declared.

The Karnataka Chief Minister did not shy away from saying that Rahul Gandhi will be the next prime minister for the year 2019. He said, “No one can stop Rahul Gandhi (Congress president) from becoming the country’s prime minister after the next general polls.”

He further said, “It is going to be secularism versus communalism contest (in Karnataka). The Congress is confident that under Rahul ji’s leadership, we will come back to power with a thumping majority in Karnataka. It will be a big boost and work as a stepping stone for the coming Parliamentary elections”.

Most of the part of Siddaramaiah’s speech was based on the welfare programmes that were running in Karnataka. The campaigns for the next Karnataka elections are already running with national leaders of both the parties BJP and Congress spearheading them in the state. The other party that will be contesting the elections in the state is JD(S) led by H D Deve Gowda.
