100 days of Modi 2.0: $5 Trillion Economy to Ban on Single-Use plastic, the new pet projects of PM Modi

In the first 100 days in office, PM Modi has set several targets including the Piped water to every household, $5 Trillion Economy, Ban on Single-Use Plastic.

 

New Delhi| The Narendra Modi-led NDA government completed its first 100 days of the second term in office. The Modi government, which secured its second term after a massive mandate in 2019, came with a heavier load of expectations this time. And so, Modi 2.0 unleashed a slew of policies and promises in its attempt to rectify mistakes of 2014-19 and deliver them on ideological agendas of the BJP.

In the first 100 days of the Modi 2.0, some of the important decisions such as abrogation of article 370, triple talaq, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and also the Right to Information Act were taken.

But, the new term in office also saw PM Modi announcing new pet projects. In 2014, it was Swachha Bharat Abhiyan that took the shape of a mass movement with support from the government. The idea was mooted by Prime Minister Modi. This time, Prime minister has set several targets including the Piped water to every household, $5 Trillion Economy, Ban on Single-Use Plastic. Apart from this, he also indicated the government’s focus on population control and wealth creators.

JAL SHAKTI ABIYAAN

Well, the formation of the new Jal Shakti Ministry and its schemes like ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ are indeed notable. It was first of its kind under the Modi govt.

$5 TRILLION ECONOMY

Standing up for the corporate sector in India, Prime Minister Modi called India Inc the “wealth of India.” Speaking about the $5 trillion economy, the modi govt had said that his govt will spend Rs 100 lakh cr over the next 5 years to boost the economy. Apart from speaking on India’s economy to reach $5 trillion soon, PM Modi had also said that the wealth creation is a great national service and that the creators should not be seen with an eye of suspicion.

POPULATION EXPLOSION

This is the first time the Modi government is acknowledging the need for a discussion and on the need for checking the population growth rate in recent history. During his speech, PM Modi had announced that a new priority for his administration’s second term in office is controlling the explosive growth in population, a trend that, if left unchecked, could go against efforts to bring millions of people out of poverty and undo the benefits of higher welfare spending for the poor. There is a greater need to have a bigger discussion and awareness on population explosion, said the prime minister

 

EASE OF LIVING

It was during this year’s Independence day when PM Narendra Modi had said that he wanted to ensure ease of living for the people of the country as well as make it easier for doing business in India. He also called for removing the excess influence of the governments from people’s lives and said that people should have the freedom of pursuing their aspirations. He further said that People’s aspirations in India are changing first, be it related to health, education, housing, water, electricity or infrastructure. The ease of living will transform the nation from rural to urban by 2022.

BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

This idea was also mooted by the Prime Minister during his independence day speech. Prime Minister Modi asked the countrymen to reduce or completely stop the usage of single-use plastic. He even appealed to the people to make India Single-use plastic-free on October 2- Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The steps are already being taken in this regard. Reportedly, the PMO has Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to launch the campaign against single-use plastic (SUP) on September 11 from Mathura.
