MP Honey-Trap: Girls from Poor, Middle class households were lured on the promise of Jobs, Scholarship

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh has been rocked by a honey-trap racket. The racket run by a gang reportedly involved girls from poor, middle-class families by luring them into getting a job and even pushed them into prostitution. It was when Indore Municipal Corporation superintendent engineer Harbhajan Singh approached police last week when the honey trap came to light. He claimed that the accused were blackmailing him for Rs 3 crore over objectionable video clips.

On September 18, the Madhya Pradesh police exposed the racket in a late-night raid. The gang had lured seven girls from Rajgarh district to Bhopal by promising their parents a guaranteed scholarship for their daughters.

According to the sources families of the girls were approached through one of the accused and the gang had plans to push them into prostitution and make them members of the gang as they had done with Monika Yadav. According to top police sources, officers investigating the case, Monika is the only accused who repents her actions and cooperated in the investigations.

Another member of the gang Aarti Dayal, in police custody is proving to be a hard nut to crack; she pretends to be ill whenever confronted with evidence. On the other hand, Monika is believed to have identified the politicians and bureaucrats in the honey trap videos. The police team first contacted the village sarpanch Inder Singh and then conducted the search in his presence. “The police had come to the village along with Monika who told Sarpanch she was trapped by some people whom she described as high and mighty,” Inder Singh said after the police team left the village.

“Monika Yadav comes from a very poor family. The family had some land dispute in the past and in the process of resolving that dispute she got in touch with Aarti Dayal who took her to Bhopal saying she would help her to do journalism,” said Inder Singh. Top police officers confirmed that Monika’s father Hiralal Yadav had been detained in this case. “Yadav has been brought to Bhopal and would also be taken to Indore where he would be confronted with Aarti Dayal, the other accused of the case.

The police, however, have tightlipped on Hiralal Yadav has any role to play in the scam and also on whether he would be arrested. On Monday evening where Monika Yadav was also taken to the rented flat in Bhopal where she stayed along with Aarti Dayal.

Aarti Dayal and Monika Yadav were arrested along with their driver on 18th September from a hotel in Indore when they had gone to collect the first instalment of Rs 50 lakh of extortion money from the city engineer Harbhan Singh whose objectionable videos were recorded by them.

Around six people have been arrested in Indore and Bhopal from 18th to 19th September on suspicion of being a part of the gang which runs the honey trap racket.

Police had identified the accused as Aarti Dayal (29), Monica Yadav (18), Shweta Vijay Jain (39), Shweta Swapnil Jain (48), Barkha Soni (34) and Omprakash Kori (45).
