Why 12 Tughlaq Lane will no longer be Rahul Gandhi’s official residence

New Delhi | After the completion of the 2019 Lok Sabha election, elected MPs are been allocated government residence by the Lok Sabha secretariat.

In a newly circulated list of vacant bungalows for MPs, the Lok Sabha secretariat has also included the official residence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, 12 Tughlaq Lane which was allocated to him when he first became the Lok Sabha MP in 2004 after winning from Amethi constituency.

A 3-time MP from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi lost the 2019 Lok Sabha against BJP’s Smriti Irani. However, he won from Kerala’s Wayanad seat this time. According to the rules, a list of vacant bungalows/flats is given to MPs on behalf of the Lok Sabha Secretariat from which they can choose and apply.

As reported to News Agency ANI, MPs have been provided with a list of 517 flats and bungalows this time. Rahul Gandhi’s bungalow has been mentioned for allocation on the same list. According to sources, Gandhi’s office does not have any knowledge about such a circular.
