After ED letter, Sharad Pawar drops plan to visit the agency’s office

In view of the security situation and a clarification letter by the ED NCP Chief Sharad Pawar has decided not to visit the ED office.

 

Mumbai| Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar was going to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday. However, in view of the security situation and a clarification letter by the ED he has decided not to visit the ED office. The ED has now said it does not require to inquire the politician. It has also said that it will not be needed in the future as well.

Reportedly, ED sent him a letter by E-Mail. He was conveyed that he will be informed of future developments. Significantly, Pawar had decided to visit the ED office on Friday despite the agency issuing no summons against him.

The ED had, however, filed a case against him in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank Scam case. Along with Sharad Pawar, his nephew Ajit Pawar and 70 others were named in the case too. Responding to the case, Sharad Pawar had said that he welcomes the ED step. Calling it a political vendetta, he had said that he will not bow down to the pressure from Delhi. He had announced that he will visit the ED office on Septemeber 27.

Meanwhile, the NCP cadres staged a protest in different parts of the city. Donning a Gandhi cap with the text “I am Sharad Pawar” the works showed solidarity outside the NCP office. Security was beefed up outside the ED office and Section 144 was also imposed.

Shivsena’s Support for Pawar:

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said, “Pawar is Bhishma Pitamah of politics. There has never been a politics of revenge in Maharashtra before. Sharad Pawar has done a lot of work in Maharashtra and agriculture. Our ideology is different from Pawar, but I would say that the ED did not do well with him. The scam was discussed in the Legislative Assembly when he was not named. Has ED become bigger than God today? God can forgive, but not the ED. ”

Pawar appeals NCP workers to not gather at ED office

On Thursday, Pawar tweeted and appealed the party workers to cooperate with the police and other government agencies in the investigation.

In the next tweet, he said, “I appeal to all my NCP cadres and supporters not to gather near the ED office premises. In keeping with our tradition to honor the constitution and institutions, I request party workers to cooperate with the police and other government agencies. ”

Anna said – Pawar’s name was not in my evidence

After being named in the bank scam, social worker Anna Hazare has given Pawar a clean chit. Anna said on Thursday that Pawar’s name is not mentioned in the evidence he had given. Anna also said that he does not know on what basis the ED has taken his name. However, the case should be investigated and the action should be taken against those who are guilty.
