After Lok Sabha defeat; Congress faces financial crisis, delays staff salaries

New Delhi | Going through one of the worst phases in its history the Congress party is now struggling for political as well as financial stability.

As per media report, the Congres party who faced a defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against BJP is currently struggling to meet its financial expenses and has asked some of its department to reduce their expenses.

According to sources, Congress’ women wing, student wing NSUI and Youth Congress have been asked to find ways to cut their expenses. While the budget of Congress’ Seva Dal unit is been reduced from 2.5 lakh to 2 lakh. The party is also considering whether it requires the services of its Data intelligence wing heading by Praveen Chakravarty.

Reports further state that many Congress workers are yet to receive their salaries from past few months especially the Social Media team of the party which is now reduced to a 35 member team. After the Lok Sabha results as many as 20 members of the Social media team of Congress resigned.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the Congress party managed to win just 53 seats compared to 303 seats won by the Narendra Modi led BJP. Taking moral responsibility of the defeat, Rahul Gandhi also submitted his resignation as president of the Congress Party. The party since then is finding a replacement of Gandhi.
