No takers for Anti-corruption 2.0? Anna Hazare ends his Hunger Strike after six days

After meeting Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Girish Mahajan and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Anna Hazare ended his fast today by drinking juice.

Six days into the Hunger Strike, social activist Anna Hazare has finally ended his fast on Thursday. Reportedly, the government has accepted all the demands of Anna Hazare including minimum support price to the farmers and empowered Lokpal. Anna Hazare had begun his indefinite hunger strike on March 23 at Delhi’s iconic Ramlila Maidan, where he had started the Anti-Corruption movement against the then UPA government almost seven years ago, ultimately catapulting the UPA to be thrown out of power.

However, after meeting Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Girish Mahajan and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis he ended his fast today by drinking juice from the hands of Fadnavis.

Anna later informed that the government has agreed to give a one and a half times the minimum support price on their crop. He also demanded the speedy appointment of Lokpal.

During the six days of hunger Strike, Anna Hazare’s health had deteriorated reaching to the lowest on Wednesday. According to doctors, Anna lost five and a half kg weight in the six days.

While the state government extended the courtesy to meet and convince Anna, the Central government sent no representative from its side.
