Arun Jaitley accuses Congress of using impeachment as a “Revenge Petition”

Union finance minister Arun Jaitley stated on Friday that the recent petition by Congress to impeach Supreme Court Chief Justice Dipak Misra is being used as a “political tool” to intimidate judges hearing controversial matters.

The Supreme Court’s judgment exposes the plot devised by the opposition parties to generate falsehood as propaganda in the public and political space, he wrote in a Facebook post.

Jaitley underlined that the motion, submitted just a day after the Supreme Court rejected a plea for an independent probe into the death of Judge BH Loya. The judge died while hearing a Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. in which BJP president Amit Shah was named. The judge who succeeded Judge Loya cleared Mr Shah in the case.
