Bihar Me Badlav? 17 JDU MLAs In Our Touch, Claims RJD Leader

“The RJD should first hand over its MLAs, as most of the MLAs do not believe in Tejashwi Yadav,” JDU spokesperson retorted.

Patna| The politics of Bihar is constantly heating up. After the recent statement by CM Nitish Kumar, the opposition is eyeing the ruling JDU legislators. Meanwhile, senior RJD leader Shyam Rajak has claimed that 17 MLAs of the ruling party are in touch with the party.

Rajak also says that 17 legislators cannot be taken into the RJD under the anti-defection law. There should be 25-26 MLAs to break the JDU. Then the anti-defection law will not apply to them. Right now RJD is waiting for some more MLAs to come in contact and break JDU. “We will take only those MLAs who are supporters of socialism and who follow the ideology of Lalu Yadav,” he said.

‘RJD leaders are only making rhetoric’

JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has, however, said that Shyam Rajak has misled people with his statements. Prasad said that Rajak is giving statements without fact. “The entire party is united. JDU legislators have faith in Nitish Kumar. The RJD should first hand over its MLAs, as most of the MLAs do not believe in Tejashwi Yadav. The MLAs are greatly disturbed by Tejashwi’s disappearance,” he said.

How do numbers stack up according to the anti-defection law

Under the anti-defection law, a party must have at least two-thirds of MLAs to break it. That is, if there are 100 MLAs, then 75 MLAs will have to break and move to other party. If the RJD breaks the JDU, it will also have to break two-thirds of the MLAs. JDU has 43 MLAs. Accordingly, the party will have to bring at least 28-29 MLAs in its favor. At present, this statement of Shyam Rajak has made the politics of Bihar quite hot.
