If BJP abolish Article 370, J&K will withdraw from India: Farooq Abdullah

New Delhi | National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today said that if the BJP abolish Article 370, the state of Jammu and Kashmir will withdraw itself from the constitution of India.

Responding to the election manifesto of BJP where it stated that if the ruling government returns to power in 2019 it will scrap Article 35 A, Abdullah requested the BJP to stop such tactics which break the heart of the citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah questioned how will the BJP eradicate Article 370? We will protest if you allow outsiders to reside in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

Abdullah addressing a rally said that if BJP abolishes Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir will withdraw itself from the constitution of India. He further warned that if such an incident happens we won’t allow to raise their flag in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP today in his manifesto announced that the if come to power in 2019 the government will declare the Article 35A of the Indian constitution invalid which grants special rights to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP in its released manifesto ā€˜Sankalp Patra 2019ā€™ stated that the BJP is committed to annulling Article 35A of the Constitution of India stating that the provision is discriminatory against non-permanent residents and women of Jammu and Kashmir.

Article 370 of the Indian constitution gives autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. While Article 35A empowers the Jammu and Kashmir stateā€™s legislature to define ā€œpermanent residentā€ of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents which are excluded for non-permanent residents.
