After the Telugu Desam Party’s announcement to withdraw from Modi government, BJP ministers in Andhra Pradesh’s cabinet are set to resign. The two BJP Ministers P Manikyala Rao, Endowments Minister and Kamineni Srinivas, Health and Medical Education minister will be resigning as the Budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly starts.

Kamineni Srinivas said the decision was painful and hoped that things shouldn’t have taken this turn. He said, “The sentiments of people of Andhra Pradesh are vital and there’s a feeling in them that Special Status is the right of the state.” He, however, reiterated that the BJP is committed to state’s development.

On the other hand, P Manikyala Rao believed that blaming Venkaiah Naidu, then a BJP minister was wrong on the part of TDP. He said it was hurtful that Naidu was being blamed for this. Rao asserted that Venkaiah Naidu did help the state post bifurcation. “He ensured that Andhra got a number of institutions and projects, and even got funds released immediately for Amaravati. Such a person is being accused and blamed today.” He further added that it is not acceptable that such person is being blamed. “I am going to the Assembly to resign,’’ Rao said
