BJP Plans Five Rath Yatra In West Bengal, Petition In High Court To Stop It

A petition was filed in the Kolkata High Court on Thursday seeking a stay on the rath yatra. It said that these should be banned, as there is a danger of Covid-19.

 

Kolkata| West Bengal may have elections in April or May. To prepare for this, BJP is going to take out five rath yatras here. A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Kolkata High Court against this. BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said on the question of filing the petition- the court has not given stay order on the rath yatra, therefore the district administration cannot stop the rath yatra.

Amit Shah and JP Nadda will take part in the rath yatra

A petition was filed in the Kolkata High Court on Thursday seeking a stay on the rath yatra. It said that these should be banned, as there is a danger of Covid-19 and secondly, it could worsen the law and order situation. The next hearing on the petition will be on February 9.

On the question of filing the petition, BJP’s West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “The court did not give stay, so the district administration cannot stop them. As an opposition party, it is our fundamental right to go among the people. JP Nadda will launch the Rath Yatra on February 6. Amit Shah will also join the rath yatra to be taken out from Cooch Behar on February 11.”

Preparations on for Five Rath Yatras

The BJP will cover all the 294 assembly seats in the state through these rath yatras. According to Bengal BJP spokesperson Soumik Bhattacharya, these are “Parivartan” visits. In 2011, Mamata Banerjee made such trips with the slogan of change.

No alternative to TMC In The State: Mamata

On Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that there is no alternative to TMC in the state. In a meeting of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Mamata said, “If there is any alternative to TMC, it is TMC itself. BJP is a dangerous party. It sold the country.”
