BJP suspends Anil Saumitra for calling Mahatma Gandhi ‘Father of Pakistan’

New Delhi | BJP has suspended its party spokesperson Anil Sautmitra for giving a statement that said Mahatma Gandhi is the ‘Father of Pakistan’.

In a Facebook post, Anil Saumitra wrote that Gandhi is the father of Pakistan. He also said that crores of people were born in India like Gandhi, though some were useful and others useless.

Saumitra, who is the head of BJP’s media cell of Madhya Pradesh, was also asked to submit a reply within seven days over his post by the party’s state chief Rakesh Singh.

BJP’s Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate and Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur on Thursday lauded Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse as a “patriot”, sparking outrage.

Thakur had responded to actor-politician Kamal Haasan’s remark that Nathuram Godse Hindu and was the first terrorist of independent India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he will never be able to forgive her.
