Uddhav Thackeray speaking on the matter said whatever game has been happening in the name of democracy, everyone is watching it. “This is the new Hindutva.
Mumbai| NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray today addressed a joint press conference after NCP leader Ajit Pawar rebelled and took oath as the deputy CM of Maharashtra while Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister.
Reacting to the development, Sharad Pawar said that the party will take disciplinary action against Ajit Pawar. He also said that the leaders who accompanied Ajit Pawar to Raj Bhavan would face disciplinary action by the NCP. He also sought to remind them of Anti-Defection law.
Pawar said, “I got to know about the revocation of President’s Rule at 6.30 AM. Ajit Pawar’s decision is not that of NCP. His action is the breach of the party’s discipline. Some leaders said that they were taken to Raj Bhavan by Ajit Pawar.”

Sharad Pawar said that some of the MLAs who were present at the oath-taking ceremony were unaware of the development. Talking to the reporters, one of the MLAs said that Ajit Pawar called them in the morning and said that they have an urgent meeting to attend at Raj Bhavan. “When we went there on the request of Ajit Pawar. We were sitting there. We were talking amongst ourselves. Meanwhile, Devendra Fadnavis entred Raj Bhavan and oath was administered to both,” he said. “We were shocked to see this, we came out and decided that we will stick with our leader Sharad Pawar,” the MLA added.
Sharad Pawar further said that BJP cannot prove its majority as only 10-11 MLAs are with Ajit Pawar. “We had 54 MLAs with us. We had made a list and had signatures. The list was kept in our office. Ajit Pawar took the list and showed it to the governor. The list was misused,” Pawar said.
On the question of re-election, he said that in such a case the three parties will make sure to defeat the candidates. When asked about whether Ajit Pawar will be removed from the party, Sharad Pawar said that the decision will be taken at a party meeting at 4.30 PM.
Uddhav Thackeray speaking on the matter said whatever game has been happening in the name of democracy, everyone is watching it. “This is the new Hindutva. They are disrespecting the mandate of the people,” Thackeray said. “We are accused of breaching people’s mandate. Whatever we do, we do it in broad daylight. They did it in night’s darkness,” Thackeray added.
On the question of ShivSena MLAs being in touch with BJP, Thackeray said, “Let the BJP try to defect our MLAs. Maharashtra will not tolerate this.”
