Mumbai| Union Minister Narayan Rane, who was arrested for his ‘slap CM’ statement against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been granted bail by a court. Police had arrested him on Tuesday afternoon. Later, they produced him in the Mahad Civil Court of Raigarh district. The police had sought remand of Rane for 7 days from the court. However, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court granted him bail.

Narayan Rane’s wife Neelam Rane was also present during the hearing. Earlier, he was kept at Sangameshwar police station and then at Mahad police station for a few hours. A case has also been registered against him in Mahad.

Narayan Rane had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in a court in Ratnagiri to avoid arrest. However, it was quashed by the court. Since Rane started Jana Aashirwad Yatra in Maharashtra, 49 FIRs have been registered against him. However, most of these cases have been registered on violation of the Covid rules. Another case has been registered against Rane under Section 500, 505 (2), 153-B (1) (c) at Naupada Police Station, Thane. Earlier, FIRs had been registered against him in Pune, Nashik and Raigarh.
