New Delhi | Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday in an unusual demand asked to classify Chicken and Eggs as vegetarian.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha during the discussion on Ayurveda, Raut made this demand and asked the AYUSH ministry to decide whether Chicken is vegetarian or not. Citing his experience, the Shiv Sena MP said, “Once I had gone to a small hamlet in Nandurbar region. The Adivasi people came and served us food. When I ask them what was it, they said it was an ayurvedic chicken. They also said that they take care of it in such a way that after (eating) you will get rid of all illness.”

He further added that the researchers in Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Uttar Pradesh are working on their research for Ayurvedic Eggs. He said that the researchers told him that the Chickens are fed Ayurvedic food so that their eggs can be consumed by the vegetarians for protein.
Sanjay Raut also demanded from the Union government to allocate budget worth 10,000 crores for the AYUSH ministry.
