Chennai | The DMK party will hold a statewide protest on September 20 to condemn Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement that Hindi can unite the country, DMK president MK Stalin said, following a high-level executive committee meeting at the party headquarters on Monday.

The DMK will hold a massive protest against Amit Shah’s statement on Friday, September 20.

“We will wait and see what the center’s reply is Based on that,we will have discussions with parties that hold the same views as we do on this language issue, and decided on holding further protests with them,” Mr.Stalin told reporters.

“The BJP-led Union Government’s efforts to impose Hindi with an attempt to turn India into a Hindi- Speaking country is extremely worrying. That the Home Minister is propagating Hindi and is acting against language including Tamil that is in the 8th schedule is a danger to the foundation of these languages”.

“The government should give up its efforts to impose Hindi and instead concentrate on doing some useful work to take the country forward”, the DMK party said.

“We have been compelled to go the protest mode every day to get our rights, he said and sarcastically added even if we snooze they will thrust. Hindi and ease out Tamil if went tired”.

They are continuously imposing Hindi we are continuously imposing Hindi and we are opposing it all along he said and alleged thrusting of Hindi is being carried on in an autocratic fashion despite such opposition.

The party has also urged the central government to focus on taking constructive steps for economic growth and dropping its Hindi imposition move.

After Shah’s Hindi pitch, Tamil Nadu parties rallied against it.

In a series of tweets in Hindi, Home minister Shah had on Saturday said, “India has many languages and every language has its own importance”.
