Facebook Delhi office is working as BJP IT cell: Derek O’Brien

New Delhi | Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien today alleged that the Delhi office of social media platform Facebook is working as the IT Cell of the BJP.

Speaking on the motion of President’s address O’Brien quoting a book called, ‘The Real Face of Facebook In India’ said, “Facebook Senior Management in India is working as defacto campaign managers of BJP”.” Facebook censored anti-BJP news and put other parties in jeopardy,” he added.

He also alleged that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections around 80 percent of the Ads on Google Youtube and Facebook are pro BJP ads.

The TMC MP further raised some issues which the government and opposition need to work collectively upon. Addressing the representation of women in the Indian democracy, he said,” The TMC proposed to introduce the women reservation bill in the first meeting with the Prime Minister.”

Obrien further challenged the Prime Minister to introduce the Women Introduction Bill or stay silent on Women issue. Taking a dig at the Triple Talaq bill, the TMC MP said,” The government wants to pass a bill a which will affect 7 crore women, why don’t you pass a bill which will impact 60 crore women.”

Derek O’Brien further raised the issue of Beti Bacho Andolan. He said the all India budget for Beti Bachao is 650 crores which means only 3 crores for each state. He said the West Bengal government used only 1 percent of advertising, unlike the Union government which spent 57 of total budget on Advertising.

Criticising the Union Government’s healthcare scheme Ayushman Bharat, the TMC MP alleged that 60 percent of the money was given by the central government while 40 percent was given by the state government but the letters were promoted with only one man’s photographs.
