Gautam Gambhir and Mehbooba Mufti engage in a Twitter spat over Kashmir

New Delhi | BJP MP Gautam Gambhir called out PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and said that if oppression ensures security for his people, then so be it.

Yesterday, the former Chief Minister of J&K Mehbooba Mufti took a dig at the new Home Minister Amit Shah and termed his actions for a change as “ridiculously naive” and “brute”.

She wrote on Twitter, “Since 1947, Kashmir’s been looked through the prism of security by successive governments. It’s a political problem that needs a political redressal by involving all stakeholders inc Pak. Expecting a quick fix through brute force by newly appointed HM is ridiculously naive”.

Former cricketer turned BJP Leader came to Amit Shah’s defence and called Mehbooba Mufti’s choice of words as “ridiculously naive”, in a twist of her own words.

He wrote on Twitter,” While I am all for a talk-based solution to Kashmir problem but for Mehbooba Mufti to term Shri Amit Shah’s process as “brute” is “ridiculously naive”. History has been witness to our patience and endurance. But if oppression ensures security for my people, then so be it”.

Newly sworn-in Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been having frequent meetings with the governor Satya Pal Malik to note Kashmir’s security situation. There are speculations about the government using delimitation in parts of the state.

Gambhir and Mufti have previously engaged in a Twitter spat too.
