Goli Maaro Slogan Raised During Kapil Mishra-Led ‘Peace’ March At Jantar Mantar

Kapil Mishra led a pro-CAA rally in Jaffarabad just miles away from the Anti-CAA protest after which riots broke out in several districts of NE Delhi.

New Delhi| Days after the Delhi HC frowned upon a speech made by him in NE Delhi, seen as one of the triggers for the riots that left 42 dead, BJP leader Kapil Mishra took out a march metres from the Capital’s VIP areas on Saturday where calls were made to shoot traitors, again.

Mishra’s ‘peace march’, including roughly 1,200 people, began from Jantar Mantar and proceeded to make its way to Connaught Place and Janpath, without police permission, amid slogans of ‘Kisi ko mat Maaf Karo, jihaadiyon ko saaf Karo (Don’t spare anyone, wipe out jihadis)’ and ‘Desh Ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro saalon ko’.

Although, Kapil Mishra did not join the sloganeering or address the gathering during the ‘peace march’ organised by NGO Delhi Peace Forum from Jantar Mantar to Parliament Street police station.

At Jantar Mantar, slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ were raised as hundreds of people gathered holding the tricolour. Some of the victims and families of those who lost their lives in the violence in northeast Delhi narrated their ordeal.

Participants of the march, many sporting saffron scarfs and some identifying themselves as RSS and VHP workers, demanded the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and that roads in the country be cleared of protesters.

As he arrived at Jantar Mantar, his supporters raised slogans comparing him to lion (dekho dekho kaun aaya, sher aaya, sher aaya).

Some of the placards read – ‘Why Ratan Lal was killed’, ‘why schools were set ablaze’ and ‘Terror in the name of anti-CAA protest will not be allowed’.

There were some retired Army officers on the stage who said that the Citizenship Amendment Act is not against Indian citizens.

Before the march began, those who had gathered paid homage to those killed in the riots. Afterwards they raised slogans against the rioters and demanded their arrest.
