I will debate PM Modi anywhere except Anil Ambani’s house: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi has again dragged Businessman Anil Ambani while criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rahul Gandhi today at his press conference in Delhi again reiterated his challenge for a debate with Prime Minister Modi.

He said that he is ready to debate PM Modi on various national issues like jobs, economy and agriculture.

“PM has no expertise, and he doesn’t use the experts they have… I told him, let’s debate, let’s debate on jobs, corruption, give me only 10 minutes, wherever you want but not at Anil Ambani’s house,” said Mr Gandhi.

This is not the first time the Congress chief has pulled the Ambani’s name in his political war against the BJP.

Anil Ambani, chairman of RCom, has been dodging the bullets from Congress since a long time, especially after allegations against him that the Modi government favoured him in the Rafale fighter jet deal.

The Rafale deal has been one of the main points for which Congress has been opposing the ruling party.

Rahul Gandhi also spoke about the economy and claimed that their NYAY scheme can bring back the economy.

“We will use NYAY (Congress’s election promise) to remonetise the economy. As soon as people get cash, they will spend it on the market, and the market will manufacture more, so it will boost the economy”.

Gandhi has held the conference two days before the next phase, of Lok Sabha polls, which will be held on May 6.

Disagreement in EC shows fear of Modi-Shah finally weakening: Chidambaram

TestHostEntry

New Delhi | The dissenting view given by one of the two election commissioners in the clean chit given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over two of his campaign speeches in Maharashtra means that “the fear of Modi-Shah” is finally weakening, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said on Saturday.

One of the election commissioners, according to sources, gave a dissenting view in the Election Commission’s (EC) decision to give a clean chit to Modi as regards his speech at Wardha on April 1, where he attacked Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for contesting from the minority-dominated Wayanad seat in Kerala, and his appeal to first-time voters by invoking the Balakot airstrike and the CRPF jawans killed in the Pulwama terror attack in Latur on April 9.

“With one member of the EC finding fault with Modi-Shah speeches and dissenting from the other two, the Election Commission is finally showing some signs of life!,” Chidambaram said in a series of tweets.

“Closer to May 6, 12 and 19, the Election Commission may actually reprimand Mr Modi and Mr Shah. That means the fear of Modi-Shah is finally weakening. I hope other institutions and the media will also shed the fear of Modi-Shah and assert their independence,” the former Union finance minister said.

The “full commission”, which takes such decisions, comprises Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and fellow election commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra.
