“I will stand by you in this hour of distress”: Priyanka Gandhi while talking to victims family

After the meet, Priyanka Gandhi brief media claiming the police do not spare anyone, not even minors and women

 

UTTAR PRADESH| On Saturday Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visits the Muzaffarnagar and Meerut victims families who were killed while protesting against CAA in the region.

Priyanka Gandhi surprise visit was to Muzaffarnagar followed by Meerut where she meet the victims family who were injured in the violence and the one who were affected because of the clash caused between the police and mob.

In Muzaffarnagar, Priyanka Gandhi met Maulana Asad Raza Hussaini who was allegedly beaten up by the police in its crackdown on the violent anti-CAA protests. She was accompanied by Imran Masood, a party leader from Saharanpur.

While conversing with the victim Priyanka Gandhi said, “I will stand by you in this hour of distress”.

After the meet, Priyanka Gandhi brief media claiming the police do not spare anyone, not even minors. They even trash down the 22-year-old women who was seven months pregnant.

Priyanka Gandhi said she has highlighted each and every “police excess” in a lengthy memorandum to Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel during her visit to the state last week.

In Meerut, the victims family gather in the outskirt of the town to meet Priyanka Gandhi and exchange of words happened.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had stopped Priyanka Gandhi and her brother the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi from entering Meerut town on December 24, citing prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, as a result of which they had to return to Delhi, 60 km from there, without meeting the affected families.

At least five people were killed during the protests in Meerut.
