The Congress high command recently ended suspense over who will lead the party in Punjab Assembly elections by declaring Amarinder Singh as the face.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh displayed his strength for the first time on Thursday after being challenged to the CM’s chair. 3 Ministers of Majha Area, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Trupta Rajinder Bajwa and Sukh Sarkaria had led the revolt against the Captain. After this, Amarinder’s political dinner was held at the residence of Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi. The MLAs also received a message that Captain Amarinder Singh would be involved in this. It is claimed that 58 MLAs and 8 MPs joined the dinner. Not only that, about 30 leaders also joined, who had lost the last assembly elections.
Not only that, 10 MLAs from the rebel faction also joined the meeting. With this Captain Amarinder Singh has made it clear that his chair in Punjab is not only safe in terms of support of the high command but also in terms of majority.

The Congress high command recently ended suspense over who will lead the party in Punjab Assembly elections by declaring Amarinder Singh’s name. While it is the Congress top leadership which took the decision, Amarinder Singh has also given a message to Navjot Sidhu that even though he has become the party chief, Singh remains the captain of the Congress in Punjab. Incidentally, the residence of Rana Sodhi where this dinner was held was earlier occupied by Navjot Sidhu when he was a minister.
The rebel faction that challenged the captain’s chair is now isolated within the Congress. Harish Rawat, Punjab in-charge of Congress, returned the ministers who reached Dehradun in enthusiasm from Chandigarh demanding change of CM face. Then the message was also given that Navjot Sidhu is definitely the party president but the party will not work according to his whims.
It is clear that the ministers who revolted now have only a few MLAs left with them. The three ministers of Majha Bajwa, Randhawa and Sarkaria did not even attend the cabinet meeting but they have got a direct signal that they have to work under Amarinder’s captaincy.
