“Innocent people facing brunt of Govt’s faulty policies” Priyanka Gandhi on PMC Bank fiasco

The PMC bank has been barred from granting, renewing and loans and advances, making any investments, accepting fresh deposits, without prior approval from RBI.

 

New Delhi: On Wednesday Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit out at the Narendra Modi-led BJP government over operational restrictions on the Punjab and Maharashtra Bank (PMC Bank) alleging that the Centre’s economic policies are faulty and the hardworking people have to face the crisis.

“The government’s economic policies are at fault. The fault lies with the top officials. But, the brunt of it is being borne by innocent and hardworking people,” Priyanka added.

On Tuesday RBI imposed operational restrictions on the PMC Bank, resulting in chaos outside its branches in Mumbai. As per the directions, withdrawals have been capped at Rs 1,000 per account and that too only every six months the bank is not allowed to allot make any fresh loans. PMC Employees are still going to work and will be given salaries every month.

The PMC bank has been barred from granting, renewing and loans and advances, making any investments, accepting fresh deposits, etc., without prior written approval from RBI. These restrictions will be in force for a period of six months from the close of business of the bank on till 23 September.

Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also blamed the government on Economic Slowdown and serious unemployment.
