Investigation should not be turned into witchhunt: Chidamabram’s counsel
P Chidambaram’s counsel Kapil Sibal has slammed the Enforcement Directorate for sensationalising information in the case but not asking any questions to P Chidambaram regarding the matter.
“ED says these monies are proceeds of crime as INX paid bribe but there is no evidence that it came from INX. Even now that he is in CBI custody. Total 26.5 hours of examination and no specific questions about the transaction. FIR was filed in 2018. We are in August 2019 now. Sealed cover documents only intended to prejudice the court against the petitioner,” Sibal said.
“Trying to leak information to the media sensationalise the proceeding. The investigation should not be turned into a witchhunt and media trial,” Sibal added.
