Jaitley takes jibe at Rahul; says wisdom can’t be inherited

Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi for anti-Narendra Modi tirade, Union Minister Arun Jaitley questioned the Congress President’s wisdom saying that it has to be acquired through learning and cannot be inherited.

The Congress party has become “ideology less” because its “only obsession is a person called Narendra Modi”, Jaitley said in a Facebook post.

Gandhi has been attacking the BJP government for waiving loans of Rs 2.5 lakh crore by big corporates, as also criticising the Mudra Yojana.

Observing that the UPA government during 2008-2014 indiscriminately lent money through banks to 15 big loan defaulters, Jaitley said Gandhi prefers the “Gobbelian traditions to say the exact opposite”.

“For a President of a national party not to understand this basic procedure of bank functioning should be a matter of concern to the entire party as also the country. In dynastic parties political positions are heritable. Unfortunately wisdom is not heritable. It has to be acquired through learning,” he said in a post titled ‘Is Congress Becoming Ideologyless? Is Anti-Modism its only ideology?’

Gandhi earlier this week cited the examples of successful American entrepreneurs to attack Modi’s policies, and described the founder of Coca-Cola as a ‘shikanji seller’ and that of McDonald’s a ‘dhaba wala’.

“Though factually what he stated was incorrect, the larger point is that he saw virtues in these professions which can act as a launch pad for many start-ups.

“The great grandson of the man who authored ‘The Discovery of India’ could with his customary inaccuracies one day give to this country his monumental work on ‘The Rediscovery of Coca Cola’,” Jaitley said.

He further said that there is no ideological pattern in Gandhi’s statements. “Ignorance with anti-Modism is a common thread”, he said.

Dynastic political parties are family and personality dominated and ideology takes a back seat, he said.

“The leader’s ill-informed instincts become the ideology. This can only happen to a party which becomes ideologyless; pushes itself to the fringe; is willing to act as a tailender to regional parties. All this because its only obsession is a person called Narendra Modi,” Jaitley said.

The minister also questioned the Congress party’s ‘sudden love for the Other Backward Classes’ saying Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had opposed the Mandal Commission and the Congress Party recently opposed the grant of constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes.

On Congress leader P Chidambaram’s comment that frying pakodas is not job creation, Jaitley said “being cleverer than rest of his colleagues, he perhaps was trying to neutralise the success story of the Mudra Yojana where 12.90 crore loans have been given for self-employment to various weaker sections”.

Jaitley said the total of these loans has touched Rs 6 lakh crores and created work for millions of people.

Mumbai | Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday criticised the ruling BJP government in the state and the center at the annual Dasherra rally in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.

Expressing his views on the Ram Temple-Babri Masjid issue Thackeray said, “Every year Ravan comes and stands but when Ram temple would arise.” Praising the stand of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the issue of Ram Temple, Thackeray said, “I want to praise RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, we are on the same page on the Ram Mandir issue.”

Announcing the date of his visit to Ayodhya which will be 25 November, Thackeray said, “Either build the Ram temple at Ayodhya or declare it is a ‘jumla’, I will go there on 25 November. He warned the government to not play with the sentiments of people over the issue. ” Targetting PM Modi over the issue of Ram Temple, he asked,”PM Modi visits China, Russia, other countries but has he been to Ayodhya even once in last 4 years?”.”We are loyal soldiers of Balasaheb Thackeray, we will ensure Ram temple gets built,” he asserted. The Shiv Sena chief also alleged that the government lodged a case against Lal Krishna Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case just to stop him from contesting for the post of President.

Uddhav Thackeray addressing the party workers said, “Many tried to finish the Shiv Sena but no one ever became successful in destroying Shivsena. Expressing his concern over the drought situation in Marathwada and other parts of Maharashtra”. Thackeray said,” If the Congress-JDS government can instantly react to the drought in the state and provide relief to the farmers, why can’t the Devendra Fadnavis governement?” Accepting the allegations of speaking against the government, the Shiv Sena chief said, “I will always question what I feel what is wrong with the government”.”Is speaking against govt an act of treason”? he added.

Thackeray remembered Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his speech and stated that the nation has never seen a Prime Minister like Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi without taking his name said that the wave that the country witnessed in 2014 has changed now. Taking a dig at BJP he said,” The Bhartiya Janta Party wants his government everywhere today. If there is election even in some housing society people call Devendra Fadnavis.” He further added that the Shiv Sena was the first to stop the winning streak of BJP.

Speaking on the ceasefire in Kashmir during the month of Ramzan, Thackeray alleged that the in Ramzan you did  ‘yuddha bandhi’ and during Ganeshutsav, Navratri you do ‘aawaz bandhi’. He further stated that if the Shiv Sena is with the government if they Scrap Article 370 giving special privileges of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.”

NDA’s re-negotiated Rafale deal has put pilots’ lives at risk: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the Modi government over the Rafale issue alleging that Indian pilots were at risk flying the “ancient” Jaguars due to the NDA renegotiating the Rafale aircraft deal that did not allow transfer of technology to the country.

In a Facebook post, Gandhi alleged the NDA renegotiated the UPA deal to benefit crony capitalists and reduced India’s prestige globally.

India could not get a transfer of technology as negotiated during the UPA rule and it was shameful that Indian pilots have to put their lives at risk flying the ancient Jaguar aircraft as the new technology did not come into the country, he said.

He cited a media report to allege that instead of getting 126 Rafale aircraft together with the transfer of technology that would have transformed the Indian Air Force, the NDA government renegotiated the deal to get only 36 aircraft made in France.

“Since 2014, instead of taking to closure deals that had been negotiated by the UPA Government, the present government has focussed on renegotiating those deals to benefit crony capitalists.

“For instance, the UPA’s Rafale deal for 126 aircraft would have transformed the Indian Airforce allowing us to scrap and replace ancient aircraft like the Jaguar.

“It involved the transfer of technology to HAL which would have helped make us become more self-reliant in the future. Instead, the deal was re-worked for Anil Ambani’s benefit and reduced to just 36 aircraft – all made in France. These aircraft will take years to arrive in India,” he claimed in his post.

Gandhi later tweeted, “Thanks to the PM’s massive corruption, the best pilots in the world now have unlimited access to French junkyards for Jaguar spare parts, rather than new, Indian made planes.”

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group has denied the Congress’ allegations in connection with the deal.

Gandhi and his Congress party have been attacking the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal, alleging corruption and favouritism.

The Government has dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, while the BJP has accused him of spreading lies on the issue.

The Congress chief alleged that India’s pilots are forced to put their lives at risk each day, flying ancient Jaguars, that are kept in the air “using parts scrounged from junkyards in France and other parts of the world”.

“Not only is this shameful, it reduces India’s prestige globally and puts the lives of our pilots at risk,” he said.

He cited a media report claiming that “India is the only air force in the world still flying the Jaguar aircraft, and will now cannibalise’ retired aircraft for spare parts”.
