JD(S) gets to keep Finance, Congress bags Home ministry in Karnataka cabinet

Bengaluru: The Congress party after days of negotiation with the HD Kumaraswamy’ JD(S) has finally come to a conclusion that the important finance ministry will be under JD(S) while the Home ministry goes to the Congress party.

The decision was signed off by Congress President Rahul Gandhi through video conference last night.

JDS leader Danish Ali told media that “We have held five rounds of talks with each other and have decided that the JD(S) will get the Finance portfolio. I will be now travelling to Bengaluru to hold further talks within our party.”

Senior leader including Gulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot, Ahmed Patel and Venugopal Rao were part of the Congress negotiators while Danish Ali represented the JD(S).

JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy had been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in alliance with the Congress after BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa failed to prove majority in the Karnataka Assembly
