JDU’s Nitish Kumar has made his growing anger with the BJP over a multitude of issues clear and MLAs are meeting at 11 am today.
Mumbai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is due to hold a meeting with his party’s MPs today at 11 am, as speculation over his split from the BJP reaches fever pitch. The Congress and the RJD have indicated that they are ready for Grand Alliance 2.0 if he abandons the BJP.
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United meeting is officially, it is meant to take a call for the party’s alliance. Mr. Kumar clarified his growing anger at the BJP on a wide range of issues. MLAs and RJD leaders also meet at the same time at Lalu Yadav’s Patna residence. Cell phones from all MLAs are kept outside the conference room. MPs from left-wing parties also arrived at the residence of RJD Patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Rashtriya Janata Dal or RJD of Lalu Yadav now led by Tejashwi Yadav and Congress have also scheduled meetings for today. Both sides have indicated they are ready for an alliance if Mr. Kumar abandons the BJP. Smaller Hindustan parties Awam Morcha and CPIML also offered unconditional support to Nitish Kumar.
The BJP, which approached Kumar twice on Monday, said it would await his decision. Sources said the party’s chief strategist, Amit Shah, contacted Mr Kumar and spoke to him on the phone. The party’s top state unity leaders met Mr Kumar on Monday.
