Jyotiraditya Scindia resigns as General Secretary of AICC

New Delhi | Congress General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh(West) Jyotiraditya Scindia hasa resigned from his post in the party, in the wake of President Rahul Gandhi’s resignations.

Taking to Twitter he said, “Accepting the people’s verdict and taking accountability, I had submitted my resignation as General Secretary of AICC to Shri Rahul Gandhi. I thank him for entrusting me with this responsibility and for giving me the opportunity to serve our party”.


Earlier today, Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora had also resigned, citing “a role at the national level of the party”.

Scindia’s resignation adds fuel to the fire of who will be the next congress chief.

Several Congress leaders have resigned from their posts in the wake of Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as Congress chief following the party’s disastrous performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election 2019.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has already resigned as Madhya Pradesh Congress chief.

Jyotiraditya Scindia lost to BJP candidate KP Yadav in his traditional Guna seat by a margin of 1,25,549 votes in the Lok Sabha elections.
