Siddaramaiah

“I met over 30 legislators and ministers from OBC communities today, including BJP legislator Ravi Kumar. All of them have given me a memorandum seeking that the government accept the caste census report and implement it,” he said. He clarified that the caste census was not a census of just OBCs, but that of ‘all the seven crore Kannadigas’, Siddaramaiah added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday announced that the Socio-Economic-Educational Census, also known as the caste census report, is likely to be placed before the state Cabinet on October 18 to take a call on its implementation.

“Most likely, the caste census report will be placed before the State Cabinet’s meeting on October 18. We will abide by whatever the Cabinet decides,” the Chief Minister said, interacting with the media after meeting ministers and legislators from Other Backward Communities (OBC) on October 7.

“The land was allotted to Ritesh Properties and Industries Limited, one of the companies owned by Arora,” Indian Express quoted sources in ED.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday raided the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on Chandigarh Road in Ludhiana, reported Indian Express.

Reports suggest the raid at Arora’s residence at Hampton Homes colony was in connection with a chunk of land that was allotted to him by the Punjab government some years ago. “The land was allotted for an industrial project, but the agreement was breached, and the land was used.

“The land was allotted to Ritesh Properties and Industries Limited, one of the companies owned by Arora,” Indian Express quoted sources in ED.

In his first reaction regarding the searches, Arora said: “I am a law abiding citizen, am not sure about the reason for search operation, will cooperate fully with agencies and make sure all their queries are answered.”

Responding to the raids, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said: “God is with the party. There is no need to be scared… no wrong has been done,” Kejriwal said.
