The Karnataka High Court has rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi. The PIL demanded an apology from Gandhi for alleged hate speech and making derogatory remarks against Prajwal Revanna.
The PIL comes after Gandhi’s comments accusing former MP Prajwal Revanna of āraping 400 womenā and describing it as āmass rapeā while delivering a public speech during the Lok Sabha election campaign.
The High Court bench comprising Chief Justice NV Anjaria and Justice K Aravind rejected the petition and passed the judgement. The court calling it a waste of judicial time imposed a ā¹25,000 fine on the petitioner.
The High Court also ruled that the matter was not fit for public interest litigation and found no merit in the claims made by the petitioner. The High Court concluded that the allegations were unsubstantiated and dismissed the plea.

The All India Dalit Action Committee had filed the petition against Rahul Gandhi. The petition also sought legal action against Gandhi for alleged hate speech and demanded an apology for his remarks. The committee had also claimed that the statement was unconstitutional.
According to reports the speeches were made by Rahul Gandhi at Shivamogga and Raichur on May 2 which went to polls on May 7.
